This pendant is part of the series that celebrates Pantone's Colour of 2014 - Radiant Orchid. This is a square pendant in black and lavender with quartzite and black spinel gemstone beads on a lavender suede leather cord. The pendant is made with polymerclay using the Mokume Gane technique, sliced, dusted with silver mica powder and fired, then covered with a protective glaze.
Each piece is created by hand in our London studio, and so no two pieces made by this process will ever be exactly the same.
Polymer clay pendants are a part of the Zayah Carnival Collection where jewellery is named after places that celebrate carnivals. Olinda in Brazil is one of the places that celebrates the carnival. The carnival here is known as the "Carnival of Participation" which includes and involves the masses. Giant papier-mache puppets or Bonecos are another highlight of this carnival.
